Children’s learning is a gift of shared responsibility. In the beginning, when the children
learn new things, the presence of people who can help them learn and can work interdependently
is essential. The responsibility of collaborating among these people is crucial because it can help
in fulfilling the children’s aspirations in life.
The collaboration between the teachers and parents is essential in the education of our
learners. These are the important persons who can work hand in hand in making our children’s
learning meaningful and successful. They serve as soldiers who has an immense contribution and
responsibility in shaping our children’s personality.
The teacher’s role is to actualize the learner’s potential. They are one of the many
influential people in the lives of each learners that develop learner’s characteristics, a great
source of information who can share knowledge, abilities and experiences and the ones who truly
support learners. They also serve as mentors that provide tasks according to the learner’s
respective skills and abilities, provide a clear path in achieving the learner’s goal, have a helping
hand in assessing learner’s knowledge and extend help to learners who need special attention.
Lastly teachers are also learners, they learn from their experiences and therefore use these to be
better teachers.

According to Cox (2020), being an educator involves much more than doing and
executing lesson plans and instructions. Teaching is a highly intelligent profession that regularly
extends beyond education. In ensuring students’ academic success, teachers must function as
parents, mentors, and counselors. There is almost no limit to the roles and responsibilities a
teacher may play. Therefore, teachers play a vital role in shaping students’ success and are a
great contributor to their academic achievement.
The parent’s role in shaping the personality involves raising, teaching, and guiding
children to become strong standing good members of society. As learning models, parents take
full responsibility for shaping good character among their children during the early years.
Supportive parents show a positive attitude towards school to show their children how important
school is. They make homes a good place for learning. They offer encouragement and a positive
influence on children’s motivation to become successful learners. They also serve as a guide in
helping their children’s work in school easier by helping them with their homework and helping
them feel that support is always present.
According to experts, parental involvement happens when teachers engage parents in
school events and meetings, and parents volunteer and give their support at home and school. In
this way, they take dedication and commitment. Parents act and commit to prioritizing their
child’s learning goals, and teachers commit to sensing and providing a space for cooperation and
collaboration with parents.
The collaboration between teachers and parents can improve children’s academic
performance, personality and social development, and work habits. Communication between
them can help the students feel more motivated in their classes. Teachers and parents can work
interdependently for the betterment of the children’s education. The partnership among these
people can be a great tool in achieving quality education. By working in partnership, teachers
and parents develop and create opportunities for a two-way connection and communication,
through which teaching and learning is the key goal.
Parent-teacher collaboration and cooperation are important. When the parents can
communicate with the teacher, they can work together to create a relationship and build the best
learning environment, both at home and school. They can sympathize with the student’s
strengths and weaknesses, make a plan of action and solution to strengthen those weaknesses,
determine and identify which factors may be hindering the student’s learning capabilities and
abilities, and become a united support system in helping the children in achieving their goals and
dreams.
